Our Holiday Luncheon and Annual Meeting has become the one event where we get to celebrate you, our members, and share WBEC South’s vision for the next year. Highlights from the event included:
Keynote address
Nancy Collat-Goedeke, Chairman & CEO of Mayer Electric Supply headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. Mayer Electric is a WBENC-certified WBE that has been in business over 83 years. Nancy is part of the 4th generation that is running the business. Nancy shared the vision and planning that went into the company’s business continuity policy. Her story, the Mayer Electric story, was one that every woman business owner could identify with.
The Passing of the Tiara
One of the newest traditions at the Holiday Luncheon is the “Passing of the Tiara.” It started in 2012 when Lee Youngblood, WBEC South’s 2012 Business Star, passed a tiara along to Mary Singer, our 2013 Business Star. This year, Mary kept the tradition alive with passing the tiara along to Jennifer Jeansonne, WBEC South’s 2014 Business Star. Jennifer will be saluted in March at WBENC’s Summit and Salute.
2013 Done Deals
These companies have shared their success stories with WBEC South. In doing so, WBEC South is able to show that WBENC-certification and engagement can grow a WBE’s business and a corporate partner’s supplier diversity initiative.
