One of my favorite mantras comes from a Dale Carnegie class I took a while back- “Activity creates Activity.” It is such a simple thought. You can apply it to anything. It propels you forward. Think of the opposite- if you never act, nothing will ever occur.
So how does this apply to your WBENC certification?
You need to get engaged, get active. Meet fellow women-business owners. Meet representatives from companies large and small from all over our territory. Form those budding relationships that will lead to activity.
“I hate networking events”
Truth be told, I hate networking events too. Luckily, that isn’t the only way to get involved. Volunteer and become part of team. You can meet people in person at meetings or participate via a conference call. It may take a little longer to develop those relationships virtually, but at least you are on the right path.
You can’t win the lottery if you don’t buy a ticket!
My heart fluttered with excitement when I heard that someone won that huge Mega Millions jackpot; then I realized that I didn’t have a ticket. My heart sank, I rolled out of bed, and went to work. I have a VERY good excuse for not having a ticket. What happened was I bought one for the previous drawing and didn’t feel like going out to get a new one because [insert a million excuses right here]. Well, I missed my opportunity and that might have been a multimillion dollar mistake! Don’t miss yours by hiding behind computer screens and meetings!
