Charlotte Dawson started working at Armstrong Relocation in 1977 as a receptionist and through hard work & dedication, she moved her way up the ladder to President. With almost 40 years of experience, she’s very knowledgeable in this field and understands the significance of maturing and growing a business. “As a woman business owner it’s important to know your industry and be flexible to shift gears to stay on top of changing industry trends.”
Formula for Success
Keeping up with new developments in this field isn’t always easy. “The biggest obstacle we face right now in the moving industry is the shortage of drivers. There are just not enough new drivers coming into the industry.” Even though hardships are inevitable in business, the one thing that remains consistent in her business is WBENC certification. Some of the major successes at Armstrong Relocation can be credited to that. “The WBENC certification has expanded the opportunity to further serve businesses and institutions that actively promote supplier diversity. As a WBE, we have gained and continue to gain, many new clients specifically because we’re a woman owned small business. It’s opened doors that we have only been able to knock on in the past. We’ve also networked with new businesses with whom we otherwise would not have known thanks to being a WBE.”
Charlotte knows that being certified is important & realizes it takes more than just certification to expand clientele. “A large part of our business is operationally based but we are starting to market more in the local area through networking and relationship building with other local business partners.”
